The IELTS Speaking test covers predictable topic areas. Familiarity with common themes gives you confidence and fluency on test day.
Part 1 Topics
Home, work or studies, hobbies, weather, food, and travel are frequent Part 1 topics. Prepare 3-4 sentence answers for each common area.
Part 2 Cue Cards
Describe a person, place, experience, or object. You get 1 minute to prepare and 2 minutes to speak. Use the STAR framework: Situation, Task, Action, Result.
Part 3 Discussion
Abstract questions related to your Part 2 topic. Express and justify opinions. Use phrases like ‘from my perspective’ and ‘on the other hand’ to show range.
